Three years ago, Winning Tenders helped the Covent Garden Dragon Hall Trust to win a £700,000 bid to Islington Council. This was to establish a centre for young people aged 13 upwards, who live, study or work in Islington. Dragon Hall Trust used the money to set up Soapbox Islington: the centre covers a wide range of activities including music, dance, tech, creative arts, digital and emerging technologies. Soapbox runs regular drop in sessions from 4pm to 8pm weekdays during school term time with daytime activities on offer during holidays, as well as organising trips and events over the weekends.
Winning Tenders have now worked with Dragon Hall to win the re-bid and thus enable them to continue their good work for a longer period. Project leader James Dellow said: “A huge thank you from all at Dragon Hall and from me personally for your help and guidance. It was absolutely invaluable and ensured that our answers showcased the very best of our work. This is a huge feather in our caps, as it secures the long term future for us (next 15 years) to the tune of £2.5 million. It is such a relief to have that as a basis to work from.”
Winning Tenders CEO Ian Smith said “We were delighted to help the Dragon Hall Trust to protect the future of their amazing work at the Soapbox centre: what could be more important than helping young people overcome disadvantages to realise their true creative potential and achieve rewarding and satisfying careers. Grateful thanks are due to Helen Bennett of the Business Network for making the all important introduction to James so that we could help him with this project.”
